Tracking the UN system’s progress, as a whole and by each entity, on achieving our environmental sustainability commitments is an essential part of making sure we allocate resources correctly.
The Greening the Blue Report has been produced every year since 2009. It details the UN system’s environmental footprint and efforts to reduce it. It also reveals the UN system-wide and entity-level progress on the environmental impact areas and management functions identified in the Strategy for Sustainability Management in the United Nations System 2020- 2030, Phase I: Environmental Sustainability in the Area of Management.
In addition to the annual Greening the Blue Report, which provides information on the UN system as a whole, each UN entity Greening the Blue Community member also tracks and reports their environmental footprint.
