The Sustainable Events Guide 2012 has been developed as a follow-up to the Green Meeting Guide 2009. It has a broader scope covering larger indoor events, and social and environmental considerations. These guidelines are particularly useful for those taking their first steps in the field of event sustainability, but also provide inspiration and a new perspective for those with experience and who have more ambitious aspirations.
The Green Meeting Guide was designed to provide insights into the ways in which small and medium sized meetings can be set up and run in more sustainable ways. The Guide s written for UN staff, but will also be of interest to non-UN event organziers. Containing everything from background information and justifications for the necessity of green meetings, the guide also provides a checklist to assist organizers during the implementation process.
Visit the ISPS Portal and find out how you can be PaperSmart with the use of electronic media and by providing participants with electronic access to meeting programmes, agendas, documents and statements.
ICAO have launched a new Green Meetings Calculator. The on-line tool is designed to assist UN organizations in reducing their carbon emissions from work related air travel to attend meetings.
The software works by generating an optimal location for a meeting in terms of CO2 emissions, taking into consideration the city of origin and the number of participants, as well as other parameters. While many factors may affect the decision for where a meeting should be held, the calculator helps facilitate the planning process.

The Green Meetings Calculator is additionally available in the Apple App Store as an iPhone and iPad application.
